Some forms of Wines, tonics and gins contain quinine, an alkaloid that has an analgesic and inflammatory property that helps in the recovery from malaria. Now malaria is a serious problem in the tropical climatic regions, hence a drink there can cause no harm.

Studies have verified that drinking wine helps to fight common cough and cold. Moderate drinkers built a healthy immunity against catching cold.
