Every one of us is used to shutting down our eyes after staying awake all day long. But for some people, the process of staying awake continues even in the night. This is what is called suffering from insomnia. Insomnia may occur due to mental stress or pressure. But according to a new research some physical disorder may also result in insomnia. Here are some ways to tackle with your insomnia and enjoy your night’s sleep.
- Take a Deep Warm Bath
Taking a long time bath may give relaxation to your body as well as your mind. Having some time in warm water gives space to your contracted muscles to open up, and you feel all fresh again. But don’t overdo it because it may exhaust you.
- Listen to Music
Listening to sweet slow music gives relaxation to your mind and help your get out of the stress due to which you may be suffering from insomnia. Avoid listening to rock music while sleeping as it may take away your sleep and you’ll be left waking up all night long.
- Do some Exercise During the Day
Try to work out at least 30 minutes a day to get a sound sleep during the night. Working out at least five hours before going to bed will show positive results to deal with insomnia. Take stairs instead of going through elevators. Walk instead of taking a vehicle if you are going to a short distance. Walk while you are talking on the phone.
- Avoid Alcohol
Since alcohol is used for party and fun, and you often feel heavy and sleepy after having it, but sometimes it may take your sleep away. Alcohol is a depressant that will drag you down resulting in making you restless and hence you may end you waking up all night.
- Stay Hydrated
Our body is tired out when we feel dehydrated. This happens because when the level of water decreases from our body, the blood thickens forcing our heart to pump harder to circulate the blood throughout the body.
- Avoid Naps
Taking a nap during the daytime may make you waking up in the night. Avoid taking naps during the day time. Even when you are feeling exhausted and a nap is a must for you then limit the time of your nap. Don’t go for a long time nap instead cut out some time which will help you sleep better at night. Make it as a schedule for waking up and going to bed at a fixed time even on weekends. This will help you to get out of insomnia.
- See a Doctor
Though most of the time we take insomnia as a result of mental pressure or stress but sometimes it could be due to physical disorder. If any of above ways do not work for your, then you need to consult with your doctor. Maybe it might have happened due to some physical stress. Open up freely to your doctor what you are feeling exactly and whether you have any pain in the body. Your doctor will provide you proper medication and help you cope up with your insomnia.
